Detailed Itinerary
(Amsterdam to Paris)
Day 1, Sun. ARRIVE IN AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND.
Arrive in charming Amsterdam. Your luxurious river cruise
ship is moored near the city center. Meet your fellow
travelers tonight at the Cocktail Reception. (D)
Day 2, Mon. AMSTERDAM.
After breakfast, admire beautiful 17th-century homes,
charming churches and 16th-century merchant houses on a
guided canal boat tour. Enjoy an afternoon information
briefing as you cruise towards Germany. (B,L,D) |
Day 3, Tue. DUSSELDORF - COLOGNE, GERMANY.
This morning arrive in Dusseldorf, mooring on the fashionable
Rhine Embankment next to the historic Old Town. Here you will
disembark for a walking tour to see the Burgplatz with its Old
Castle Tower, Marktplatz with the Town Hall and the sophisticated
shopping of the Kings Avenue. Later, cruise the Rhine to Cologne;
arriving in the afternoon you will visit the fabled 13th-century
Gothic cathedral. The ship overnights in Cologne and is minutes
away from the Old Town, perfect for after dinner exploration. (B,L,D)
Day 4, Wed. FRANKFURT.
Today, drink in the stunning beauty of the castles along the Rhine
as we sail through the fascinating Rhine Gorge, and cruise past
the famous Lorelei Rock. In the afternoon arrive in Frankfurt, the
bustling metropolis on the River Main; here enjoy a guided walking
tour of the historic city center "The Romer." (B,L,D)
Day 5, Thu. MAINZ (Heidelberg)-KOBLENZ.
Today, you decide: Either disembark for a trip to Mainz or travel
by motorcoach to Heidelberg, Germany's oldest university town,
where you will visit the red-walled Castle, the Great Vat, a
49,000-gallon 18th-century wine cask, and enjoy the beautiful
views of the Neckar Valley and Heidelberg below. Then there is a
walking tour of old Heidelberg and free time before returning to
the ship in Mainz. If you choose Mainz, your guided walking tour
of this beautiful town includes the famous Gutenburg Museum, home
of the world’s first printed bible. After lunch the ship will
cruise back onto the Rhine to Koblenz, where the Mosel & Rhine
rivers meet. We arrive in Koblenz after dinner, just in time for
your Cruise Director to escort you on an evening walk around the
town.

steep sided banks of vineyards. After lunch we stop in Cochem,
where you’ll enjoy a guided visit of Reichsburg Castle, with
spectacular views of the river. (B,L,D)
Day 7, Sat. BERNKASTEL - TRIER.

little town on your included walking tour. Strategically located
in the middle of the Mosel wine-producing region, Bernkastel
boasts over 500 years of documented wine history. Then onto Trier,
Germany's oldest city, for a guided tour which will introduce you
to the city's rich ancient Roman past, including the Roman Baths,
site of ancient gladiator games. (B,L,D)
