popular in Southern Germany for over 700 years, providing opportunities for
local craftsmen to show off their wares in atmospheric settings when
towns and villages lie under a carpet of snow. This is a cruise is offered on MS Amadeus, one of the most modern and comfortable river cruise
ships. Visits to traditional Christmas markets provide opportunities for Christmas
shopping while you encounter sleepy villages and romantic towns adorned in
magical Christmas decorations emitting aromas of ginger breads, hot ciders, toasted
almonds and other flavors and sounds of romantic Old Europe.

Embarkation on
the vessel in Vienna begins in the afternoon. When you have found
your way round your floating hotel our cruise managers invite you to take
a welcome cocktail in the Panorama bar before our special welcome dinner.
There will be also a wonderful concert in the Panorama bar. The
vessel remains in Vienna overnight.

In the
morning you can join our included city tour of Vienna,
during which you can admire the Hofburg palace, the impressive Vienna
opera house, the majestic inner ring road and St. Stephen’s cathedral.
In the afternoon there will be an excursion to the Schoenbrunn castle
(€
41), where there will be a performance in the Marionette theatre. Later
will be an opportunity to drive into the centre of the city by coach, and
to visit the Christmas market near Vienna’s city hall (€ 40).
Alternatively you can book the “Sound of Vienna” (€ 40) where
the Salonorchester „Alt Wien“, one of the famous interpreters of
classical music, sparks off a unique firework of the most beautiful on its
highest level.

At midday we
reach the mythical region of the Wachau. The vessel halts at Melk/Emmersdorf,
and you have an opportunity to join the Beauties of the Wachau (€
39) excursion, which consists of a visit to the town of Duernstein (guided
tour on foot) and to the imposing Benedictine abbey of Melk, one of
Europe’s largest monasteries. Afterwards you will be invited to a “Gluehwein-Party”.
In the early evening you return to the vessel and will leave Emmersdorf.

In the
morning the vessel reaches the small town of Aschach, where you
start an optional excursion to the Mozart-town Salzburg (€ 50).
The old town of Salzburg with its world famous baroque architecture
is one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps and was
adopted by UNESCO in 1997 in the list of World Cultural Heritages. Of
course you will visit also the Christmas market in front of the Minster.
Your cruise ship reaches the fine Bavarian city of Passau, which
lies at the confluence of three rivers (the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz)
in the afternoon where you re-embark the ship. You may join the
morning’s included city walk to get to know this delightful
miniature city including a visit of the Christmas market.

You reach Regensburg
in the morning. This city captivates all its visitors with its mass of
about 1,400 historical buildings, forming one of the best preserved
medieval cities in the whole of Germany. The most important of
Regensburg’s sights can be seen in the course of an included city
walk. After lunch a coach ferries you to the atmospheric Regensburg
Christmas market. On the second-last evening of your cruise the
captain of the vessel invites you to his special dinner, and the ship’s
orchestra will not fail to inspire most of the passengers to round off
their cruise on the dance floor.

Disembarkation after breakfast. End of the program.

Regensburg
is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Germany, and its historic
buildings (about 1,400) are most impressive. Among this architectural
treasures are cathedrals, churches, monasteries, the town hall, and one of
Europe’s oldest bridges that has spanned the Danube since the 12th
century. During this walk you will recognize the former power and wealth
of this city, which once controlled the trade route to the Orient. You
also will visit the Christmas market befor the vessel leaves the town in
the evening.

Your cruise
ship reaches the fine Bavarian city of Passau, which lies at the

still enjoying the substantial breakfast served on board. You may join the
morning’s included city walk to get to know this delightful
